We have selected a list of useful expressions in Korean. They will help you survive in Korea as you will be able to say that you only speak a little Korean or you can ask someone to repeat what you are saying. You can listen to the recording but pause it and play it several times. Remember to always try to recognise Korean letters and not rely on romanisation since it does not always correspond to the Korean sounds correctly. We recommend you to listen to the recordings on a daily basis.

Comprehension & Asking again

  1. 한국어 조금 밖에 못해요. I only speak a little Korean.
  2. 천천히 얘기해 주세요. Please speak slowly.
  3. 무슨 말인지 모르겠어요. I can’t understand what you are saying.
  4. 다시 한 번 얘기해 주세요. Please say it one more time.
  5. 아, 이제 알겠어요. Ah, now I get it.
  6. 한국어를 공부하고 있어요. I’m studying Korean.
  7. 무슨 뜻이에요? What does it mean?
  8. 이거 한국어로 뭐라고 해요? How can I say this in Korean?
  9. 적어주세요. Please write it down.

Accepting & Rejecting

  1. 네, 좋아요! Ok, that’s good!
  2. 글쎄요, 잘 모르겠는데요. Well, I’m not sure about it.
  3. 아니요, 괜찮아요. No, thank you.
  4. 괜찮은 거 같아요. I think that’s a good idea.
  5. 그건 좀 곤란한데요. That’s not possible.

Gratitude & Apologies

  1. 감사합니다. Thank you.
  2. 실례합니다. Excuse me.
  3. 죄송합니다. I’m sorry.
  4. 괜찮아요, 걱정하지 마세요. Don’t worry about it.
