Meeting with friends in a coffee shop in Korea.

Vocabulary

When discussing plans, it is a good idea to learn some questions which ask about plans and days of the week together with some responses. Please have a look at the words below.

Grammar Points

-으러 가다/ – 러 가다 go to somewhere to do something/go (in order to) V

It is used to express the reason for going to a place to perform an action, in which the action is often stated first and the place comes after the action. When the verb stem has the batchim, “-으러 가다 ” is used. When there is no final consonant in the verb stem, “-러 가다” is used.

E.g. 책을 읽으러 도서관에 가요. I go to the library to read books.

E.g. 옷을 사 동대문 시장에 가요. I am going to Dongdaemun market to buy clothes.

E.g. 운동하 가요. I’m going to work out.

볼링하러 가다 – to go bowling

볼링장 – a bowling alley

이번 주말 – this weekend

같이 가자! (informal), 같이 갑시다! (formal) – Let’s go together!

몰라! (informal), 모르겠어요! (formal) – I don’t know!

자주 – often

좋아! (informal), 좋아요! (formal) – That’s great!

Going bowling

가: 요한 씨, 이번 주말에 뭐 할 거예요?
Ga: Mr. Yohan, what are you going to do this weekend?

나: 글쎄요. 잘 모르겠어요. 주원 씨는 뭐 할 거예요?
Na: Well. I don’t know. How about you, Mr. Juwon?

가: 저는 볼링을 치러 갈 거예요. 저는 볼링장에 자주 가요. 요한 씨도 볼링을 좋아해요?
Ga: I’ll go bowling. I go to a bowling alley often. Do you also like bowling?

나: 네, 저도 좋아해요.
Na: Yes, I also like it.

가: 그럼, 이번 주말에 같이 가요.
Ga: Then, let’s go together this weekend.

나: 와, 좋아요!
Na: Wow, that’s great!
